How To Cook Hams For Christmas Dinner
There are a variety of ham recipes that you can use for your Christmas dinner. In this article, we will list some of the more popular recipes. Now I know what some of you may be thinking: "Why go to the trouble? Can't I just buy a ham from the grocery store?" Sure you could do that...but where is the fun in that? Not only will cooking a ham yourself give it a unique homemade flavor, but it's also a great event to share with friends and family!
To Cook Ham For Christmas Dinner
1. Basic Ham
The most popular way to cook a ham is by boiling it for about an hour per pound at 325 degrees Farenheit. Using this method, you have almost complete control over crispy or moist the final product turns out.
2. Apple Cider Glazed Ham
This recipe calls for you to cover your ham with whole cloves and then bake it for about an hour at 350 degrees, basting every 15 minutes. The result is a tender and juicy ham flavored all the way through.
3. Brown Sugar Glaze
This recipe involves covering your ham with brown sugar before baking it at 400 degrees Farenheit for 45 minutes or so. You will want to brush the top of the ham lightly with water so that the brown sugar doesn't burn during the cooking process!
4. Pineapple -
This one of my favorite ways of making a ham because it is incredibly easy yet tasty as well! All you need to do is place pineapple rings on top of the ham before putting it in the oven at 350 degrees F for about an hour or so.
5. Pineapple Rum Glaze
Same as above, just add a little bit of rum to give it that extra kick!
6. Cinnamon Maple
This recipe is similar to number four except you will want to use cinnamon apple juice instead of regular apple juice. You can also sprinkle some chopped pecans on your pineapple ring if desired.
7. Brown Sugar & Mustard Glazed Ham
This is one of my absolute favorite recipes because not only does it taste delicious, but it looks pretty when finished cooking : ) The great thing about this recipe (aside from the flavor) is how easy it is to make! You will need to bake your ham for about an hour at 400 degrees, glazing every 20 minutes or so. The reason this recipe is called "brown sugar" despite the fact that there's no brown sugar in it is because of the molasses used in it instead!
8. Spicy Maple
This one is quite similar to number four except you use spicy BBQ sauce instead of regular BBQ. You can also add some chopped pecans if desired.
9. Cola
Yum! This simple yet tasty recipe requires you to pour a can of cola inside the ham before putting it in the oven at 325 degrees F for roughly an hour per pound (or until done). 10. Peach Salsa - If you are looking for a unique way to prepare your ham, this recipe is perfect for you! All you need to do is put all the ingredients in a saucepan and simmer until it thickens up. Make sure to let it cool before applying to your ham.
11. Maple Mustard
If you are not much of a fruit person but don't want something too spicy either, then this could be the one for you! This recipe simply calls for equal amounts of maple syrup and mustard which will then be brushed onto the ham every 15 minutes or so as it bakes at 350 degrees F for an hour or until done. You can also sprinkle chopped pecans on top after cooking if desired.
12. Pineapple Rum Glaze
This is a slightly different recipe from above because it calls for some orange juice as well as dark rum. Combined, these ingredients make a succulent sauce that will have your guests wanting more!
13. Maple Bourbon
Here's another tasty one . All you need to do is combine the ingredients and then brush them onto your ham every 15 minutes or so during the baking process at 400 degrees F until done.
14. Cinnamon Spice
This recipe follows the same steps as number seven except you use a mixture of brown sugar and spices instead of just brown sugar alone. If desired, sprinkle chopped pecans on top after cooking your ham if desired
15. Cherry Chipotle
Another spicy one : ) To cook this ham, you need to simmer it in a pot with the ingredients at medium heat for about 25 minutes. Make sure to let it cool before using as a glaze on your ham!
16. Brown Sugar & Mustard Glaze #2
This recipe follows the same steps as number nine except you use spicy mustard instead of regular mustard.
17. Maple Cranberry
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and cook the ham until done, basting every 15 or so minutes with a mixture of maple syrup and cranberry sauce during the process.
18. Bourbon Glazed -
Yet another tasty one : ) To make this, you will need to combine all the ingredients in a saucepan and then simmer at low heat for roughly 30 minutes. Don't forget to brush onto your ham every 15 minutes or so during the baking process at 400 degrees F until done. 19. Smoky Maple - This recipe is very similar to number one except you use liquid smoke instead of an actual smoked ham. It's quick and simple : )
20. Pineapple Salsa
Combine all ingredients for this recipe in a saucepan and cook on medium heat, stirring occasionally, until thickened (about 25-30 minutes). After cooking, let it sit for another 30 minutes before using as a glaze over your baked ham!
